Church School

Sunday School classes are held at 9:30 - 10:30 AM for preschool through middle school children. New students or families are always welcome! Special activities have included Worship in the Woods, Bible Sunday, the annual Christmas program and reception, preparing valentine cards for shut-ins, Easter egg hunt on Palm Sunday, pansy plans for parents, and Sundae Sunday.  Books and videos with Christian values can be checked out from the Book Nook after class.

Music is a special part of Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Karen Disegna leads the singing; Emily Garland leads the Kristal Bells and chimes.

Son Shine Kids - Children (kindergarten through fourth grade) attending the first service during the summer months may leave prior to the offering. A leader will share a message, a snack will be served and children will have outdoor recreation around the patio.

Vacation Bible School is held at the church pavilion in mid-July, 5:30 - 7:30 PM. We start with a supper, sing around the fire pit, rotate through stations (lesson, crafts, recreation), and close with the Puppets of Faith. Students age three through fifth grade are welcome.  Go to the Church School page to see this year's flier.

Middle School and High School Youth Groups are held Sunday afternoon and evening. These groups meet with youth from other churches monthly. Youth director, Zach Sweet, also plans mission and recreational activities with the youth. See the Youth page for more information.

Puppet Ministry - The Puppets of Faith, led by Marian Riffle, are featured the last Sunday of the month for the preschool class through third grade.

Mission Offerings are collected each Sunday and daily at Vacation Bible School. The mission money goes to projects such as the CROP Hunger Relief Walk, county animal shelter, women's shelter socks and underwear, children's needs at the Henderson Settlement in Kentucky, Toys for Tots, blankets, mittens, and hats for children. We have also done international projects in Zambia and the Dominican Republic.

Kids for Christ - Children (kindergarten through fourth grade) attending the second service may leave prior to the sermon for KFC. A leader will share a lesson. There may be time for games or crafts.

Summer Camps - Children are encouraged to attend a UMC summer camp for a half week or full week. Lake Michigan Camp located south of Pentwater is an excellent camp and is so convenient. Scholarship forms are available beginning in February.

Intergenerational Events have included the Fall Folk Festival, bowling, ice skating, roller skating, and a family movie night. We have considered winter sports and have visited the Amber Elk Ranch. Suggestions are always welcome.
