Women’s Fall Bible Study - Thiswill begin Thursday, September 8 at 10:00 am. We will continue to meet in Fellowship Hall. Our

study for the fall is The Twelve Disciples, a 10 week Life Guide Study, by Douglas Connelly. The goal of this study is to focus

on each man and how each one was changed because of his association with Jesus. When Jesus sent these men into the world

with the good news of God’s grace and forgiveness, they spoke with the authority of Jesus himself. It was the writings of the

apostles and their close associates that laid the foundation of the church. We can expect to grow as disciples as we study how Jesus made disciples, and we can expect to hear a new call in our lives to follow Christ with a whole heart. Books will be available at our first meeting. For more information, you may call Lynne Gohn at 843-4746. Sign up in the church office.

Want to help local kids in need? - Did you know that Mason/Oceana County DHHS has only 10 licensed foster homes? And in recent months, they've had an all-time high number of children placed in out-of-home care. When children have to be placed out of the county, they not only have the trauma of being separated from their parents; they are now losing their friends, school, church, extended family, teachers, coaches, and so on; plus there are increased transportation difficulties related to visits with parents.

If you are interested in being a foster parent, mentor, or even just a volunteer at a respite care event, please call the church

office at 843-8340, and Laurie will give you Ms. Janice Ruedisale’s (Mason/Oceana  County  Department  of  Health  and  Human  Services) contact information. Please prayerfully consider this important ministry.

Salvation Army Food Pantry - Please remember to bring non-perishable items for the Salvation Army Food Pantry: Cans of baked beans, soups, fruits and vegetables; boxes of macaroni and cheese, cereal, boxed meals; packages of rice, noodles, pasta and beans; peanut butter and jelly, powdered milk, and any other non-perishable items. Drop off in the narthex. Thank you so much.

Reel to Real - Sept 18 at 12:15

Fall Festival - Sept 25 at 2 to 5 pm. Remember to calendar our Fall Festival, scheduled for 2:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, September 25 at the Pavilion.  This is always

a fun, intergenerational event: Hayrides, bouncy house, games for children, pumpkin painting, hot dogs and s’mores.

Crop Hunger Walk - Oct 9 at 2 pm. Crop  Hunger  Walk will be on October 9, 2:00 pm.  The walk will start at Community Church.  Sign up in the Narthex to participate.

Church Conference - Saturday, October 22 at 11:00 am is our annual Church Conference! It will be held at Ludington St. Paul United Methodist Church this year. At Church Conference, members elect next year’s church leaders, hear various reports, and celebrate the year’s ministry. All who attend our church have voice in church conference, but only members may vote.

Grand Traverse District Conference - Saturday, November 12 is our annual Grand  Traverse  District  Conference, to be held this year at Traverse City Central UMC. More information on this will follow in the October and November issues of Footprints and in upcoming bulletins.

Bazaar Workshops - We have four Bazaar  Workshops  scheduled during September, to get together and make items to be sold at the UMW Fall

Bazaar on October 29. Materials and instructions will be there. I suspect that there will be fun, fellowship and snacks as well

as productivity.  Pick one or more times that work for you and be there. Let Karen Genson know if there is an item that you

think would sell well and you know how to make, and we can plan to make them. Also, let Karen know of another workshop

time that would work better for you.  The workshop dates and times are listed below.

  Wednesday, September 7   9:00 am

  Monday, September 12    2:00 pm

  Tuesday, September 20    3:00 pm

   Friday September 30 1 PM

UMW Bazaar - Oct. 29. The UMW Bazaar date (October 29) is approaching fast.  I hope you are making items that you plan to donate for sale.

We are looking for your ideas for items that the ladies can make that will sell well.  We would like to have a couple workshop days to work together on making items. Call Karen Genson (843-2482) if you have project ideas or would like to help make items at a work day.  Handmade Christmas ornaments were one item mentioned as a possibility-- any ideas out there for Christmas ornaments or other items?

Attention artisans and crafty persons! The Unique  Boutique  is once again looking for your unique specialties for this

booth at the Bazaar. In the past we’ve had many creative items, such as turned bowls, quilts, bird houses, wall hangings,

quilted pieces, and framed pictures. These items, which are auctioned on the day of the Bazaar, create a lot of interest

and they offer you the  opportunity to show off  your skills. We’ve had many  happy purchasers! Please  contact Janelle Schade at 843-8131 now to let her know what you plan to contribute. Thanks.

Volunteer Opportunities

Please call the Church office to see if any volunteer opportunities are available.

Church Hostess and Wedding Custodian needed - Are you looking for an occasional job at church that is fun and rewarding? Now we need a new Church Hostess and a Wedding Custodian! The Church Hostess and Wedding Cus-todian each receive $50 for each wedding. We average three or four church weddings a year. For more information, please call the church office for more information. If anyone is interested, please call the church office.

Set up Fellowship Hall - Once again we need some first service attendees to set up coffee, punch and goodies in Fellowship Hall prior to 9:00 am. We need this help for the first and fourth Sundays each month. If you are willing to help one of these Sundays, please call the church office for more information.

Videographers needed by the sound/video crew - Our long history of providing audio recordings of Sunday Services has been enhanced to include video. Experienced or not, we need you full time or to fill in. If you are ready to serve your church, you could take in worship from a new vantage point. Please join us. For more information or to volunteer, please call the church office for more information.

Church Greeters Needed - If you are willing to extend a warm hand and a friendly smile to a member of the congregation or a visitor to our church, the church would be interested in your help for a substitute or relief greeter for the second service on Sunday mornings. For more information or if you are interested in being a part of this, please call the church office.

The Christian Education Department needs you!

**We need an individual or couple to teach the middle school Sunday School class, which meets from 10:00 to 11:00 am beginning September 13.

**We also need someone to help with one of the youth groups each Sunday night., beginning September 13. The middle school youth group meets from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, and the high school youth group meets from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. You would only need to help with one of the groups, so that means we need two people.

**All of these positions could be filled on a rotational basis so that one person would not need to commit to every Sunday. Please contact the church office if you are interested in helping to nurture our youth as they grow in Christian faith.

Flower Ministry Help Needed - Are you interested in being part of the Flower Ministry? We need you! Please contact Vi DeMeester or the church office.
